"While I remain open to having a conversation about the soon-to-expire ACA Tax Credits that Democrats are using as one of their reasons for holding the government hostage, I don’t believe that discussion can happen in good faith as long as the political theater continues. Reopening the government to restore basic services should be everyone’s first priority."
My response, October 6, 2025:
If you are truly interested in ending the "political theater" then you should accurately represent the situation. The Republicans are solely responsible for this shutdown just as they were over the last of Trump's shutdowns. That one was during his first term over building his farcical wall. It ended with Trump's complete collapse on the issue and the ridiculous wall was never built, thank goodness.
You write, "Reopening the government to restore basic services should be everyone’s first priority," but, as usual, you don't mean it. If you did, you would openly and honestly tell your constituents that you want to take away healthcare from thousands of them. That you want the ACA benefits to expire so healthcare premiums will skyrocket. That you, more than anything else, are willing to shut down all "basic services" in order to harm the health of your voters. Like your vote for the atrocious "Big Beautiful Bill," you vote for death and sickness. For once in your very brief career, tell the truth for what you stand for.
