To Tom Barrett, November 1, 2025
Rep. Barrett:
Your response to the messages chalked outside your office is very typical of you. Those messages were left in sidewalk chalk, the kind of chalk used by children to chalk flowers and stars on a sidewalk. The messages were earnest pleas to serve your constituents, to feed the poor, to meet and listen to those you've sworn to serve. To be blunt: to stop killing people by cutting off SNAP and healthcare.
Rather than using the opportunity to reflect on your duties to your constituents you called the police to report "vandalism." Rather than think, you reacted as an authoritarian who cannot abide the slightest criticism and will use his power to suppress those he has sworn to represent.
I cannot help but think the police must have rolled their eyes when hearing your pique at earnest messages chalked outside your office. Messages written in a chalk that will be washed away with the first light drizzle. Your cowardice is now on full display for all of mid-Michigan.
One of the messages was "One-term Tom." Absolutely right. We deserve better than a Trump sycophant who serves the billionaire class rather than his constituents. You are a sad, pathetic little man.
